Howard Walter Florey



Florey, Howard Walter (1898–1968), Baron Florey of Adelaide, Australian-born British pathologist. He worked with E.B. Chain and others to extract penicillin from Penicillium notatum mold for use as a therapeutic drug (1934–44). He shared with Chain and Alexander Fleming the 1945 Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine.
