Flores Island



Flores Island, westernmost island of the Portuguese Azores, in the North Atlantic. Named for its lush flora, the 55 sq mi (143 sq km) island is volcanic in origin and has many crater lakes that offer good fishing. Santa Cruz is the chief town, and cattle raising and dairy farming are the island's main industries.
