Floriculture

Floriculture, cultivation of flowers and ornamental plants for commercial business. Scientific research has provided floriculturists with techniques for controlling the blooming of flowers, so that, for example, poinsettias bloom with red leaves at Christmas. Research has also produced such new varieties as thornless roses and the double snapdragon. Floriculturists work in public and private gardens, nurseries, seed companies, and landscape design companies.
