Cumberland Gap



Cumberland Gap, mountain pass through the Cumberland Mountains of the Appalachians near the border of Kentucky and Tennessee. Daniel Boone's Wilderness Road to the West ran through the gap, and it was a strategic military objective of both sides in the Civil War. The pass has been a national historical park since 1940.
