Nashville



Nashville (pop. 510,000), capital city of Tennessee, on the Cumberland River. The last major battle of the Civil War was fought nearby (Dec. 1864). Nashville is a commercial, industrial, and agricultural city, and a religious, educational, and publishing center. It is the center of the country music recording industry, and its “Opryland” is a major entertainment complex.
