Noam Chomsky



Chomsky, Noam (1928– ), U.S. linguist that revolutionized the study of language structure with his theory of generative grammar, first outlined in Syntactic Structures (1957). He was also an influential critic of U.S. foreign policy both during and after the Vietnam War.
