Bridgeport



Bridgeport (pop. 141,686), city in southwestern Connecticut, about 65 mi (105 km) from New York City. Products include electrical and metal goods, sewing machines, munitions, airplanes, textiles, and clothing. It is the home of the Barnum Institute of Science and History and the University of Bridgeport, founded in 1947.
