Bridge of Sighs

Bridge of Sighs, landmark bridge in Venice, Italy. Spanning the canal between the Doges' Palace and the state prison, its name derives from the “sighs” of the unhappy prisoners who had to cross it. Renowned for its beauty, it was designed by Italian architect Antonio Contino and completed c.1600.
