Saint Brendan

Brendan, Saint (c.A.D. 484–c.578), Irish monk, founder of Clonfert and other monasteries. Tales of his travels are recorded in the 8th-century Voyages of St. Brendan, and he is sometimes honored as having reached America 900 years before Columbus.
