Marlon Brando



Brando, Marlon (1924– ), U.S. stage and screen actor. Brando's first great success was his portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in the Broadway production of Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire, the film version of which (1951) brought him international fame. Although widely acclaimed as one of the greatest actors of his time, he has appeared in relatively few parts, particularly in recent years. He won Academy Awards for On the Waterfront (1954) and The Godfather (1972).



Other films include Last Tango in Paris (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979), and Don Juan de Marco (1995).
