Manchester terrier



Manchester terrier, popular breed of dog. They were bred into existence in the 1800s in Manchester, England, when black and tan terriers were mated with swift whippets to compete in rat-killing matches. They are black with tan markings on their faces and chests and weigh 12–22 lb (5.4–10 kg). A toy variety weighs 5–12 lb (2.3–5.4 kg).
