Laurel and Hardy

Laurel and Hardy, famous comedy team of Hollywood films. The English-born Stan Laurel (Arthur Stanley Jefferson; 1890–1965) and the U.S.-born Oliver Hardy (1892–1957), thin man and fat man, simpleton and pompous heavy, made over 200 films between 1927 and 1945. Their style, shaped by Laurel, ranged from slapstick to slow-paced comedy of situation and audience anticipation. In the early 1990s several original films were released on videotape.
