Muhammad Ali Jinnah



Jinnah, Muhammad Ali (1876–1948), Indian Muslim lawyer and political leader, founder of Pakistan. At first a member of the Indian Congress Party, he resigned in 1921, charging it with Hindu bias. From 1934, as head of the Muslim League, he campaigned for Muslim rights in an independent state. In 1947 he became Pakistan's first head of state.
