Jinrikisha

Jinrikisha, or ricksha, 2-wheeled passenger vehicle pulled manually. The runner, or hiki, runs between 2 long poles extending from the body of the carriage. Used as a public vehicle in China and Japan around the turn of the century, jinrikishas carried 1 or 2 people. Jinrikishas were later considered demeaning to humans and outlawed.
