Benjamin Lawson Hooks



Hooks, Benjamin Lawson (1925– ), U.S. lawyer, minister, and leader of the African-American community. President Nixon appointed him to the Federal Communications Commission in 1972. In 1977 Hooks succeeded Roy Wilkins as executive director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
