Holinshed's Chronicles
Holinshed's Chronicles, or Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland, purported histories of the 3 countries, largely edited by Raphael Holinshed (d. c.1580). Colorful, imaginative, and inaccurate, they provided plots for many Elizabethan dramatists, including William Shakespeare.
