Billie Holiday



Holiday, Billie (Eleanora Fagan; 1915–59), U.S. jazz singer. She started her career at 16, singing in Harlem cafés and night spots. Her highly individual style was soon recognized, and she sang with many famous bands and small groups in the 1930s and 1940s. In later years she suffered from heroin addiction.
