Ludvig Holberg



Holberg, Ludvig (1864–1754), Norwegian-born Danish playwright and educator. A professor at the University of Copenhagen, he was a philosopher and historian as well as an author. His plays were mainly comedies influenced by earlier Roman works. The comedy Erasmus Montaus (1731), the satirical poem Pedar Paars (1719–20), and History of the Danish Kingdoms (1732–35) are among his best-known works.
