Joe Hill



Hill, Joe (Joseph Hillstrom; 1879–1915), legendary Swedish-born U.S. labor organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World. He immigrated to the United States in 1902 and was the author of many songs of the early socialist labor movement. He was convicted of murdering a man in Utah in 1915 and sentenced to death, though many people believed that he was innocent. His funeral was attended by about 30,000 people.
