Octavia Hill



Hill, Octavia (1838–1912), English social reformer. She was instrumental in improving housing conditions for London's poor and in establishing and preserving the city's parks and playgrounds. Hill also served on the board of several charitable organizations, and her concern for the preservation of natural beauty and historic structures led to the formation of the National Trust.
