International Ladies Garment Worker's Union



Garment Worker's Union, International Ladies, labor union with branches in the United States and Canada, comprising workers who produce women's and children's clothing. The union was founded in 1900 with a charter from the American Federation of Labor (AFL) and was instrumental in forming the Committee for Industrial Organization (now the Congress of Industrial Organization, or CIO) in 1935.
