George Horace Gallup



Gallup, George Horace (1901–84), U.S. pollster. In 1935 he established the American Institute of Public Opinion, which undertakes the Gallup polls, periodic samplings of public opinion on current issues. His several books include The Pulse of Democracy (1940) and The Gallup Poll: Public Opinion, 1935–71 (1972).
