Gallup



Gallup (pop. 18,200), city in New Mexico. With Navajo, Zuñi, and Hopi reservations nearby, it is the central trading center of the Southwest tribes and headquarters of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in that area. Native American ceremonial events are held there each Aug. Industries include Native American arts and crafts, tourism, cattle shipping, wool, and forest products.
