Sea of Galilee

Galilee, Sea of, lake in northern Israel, also called Lake Tiberias. Fed and drained by the Jordan river, it contains many fish, and its water is used for irrigation. Many Bible stories, such as Jesus's transformation of water into wine, are set along this sea. Ruins of ancient cities lie along its northern shores.
