Fort Rucker



Fort Rucker, home of the U.S. Army Aviation Center, northwest of Dothan, Ala. Established in 1942 and named after Confederate officer Colonel Edmond W. Rucker, this fort also houses the Army Aeromedical Center, the Army Safety Center, and the Aviation Development Test Activity. Fort Rucker covers 64,000 acres (26,000 hectares), and is the training center for pilots and maintenance personnel for small airplanes and helicopters.
