Empire style



Empire style, French neoclassical style in architecture, interior decoration, and furniture design that peaked during the Napoleonic empire (1804–14). In architecture, Roman grandeur was imitated; mahogany and gilt were favored materials for furniture; and costume design was inspired by classical drapery.
