Alpaca



Alpaca (Lama pacos), South American hoofed herbivorous mammal, closely related to the llama. It has a long body and neck, and is about 3 ft (1 m) high at the shoulder. Its long, thick coat of black, brown, or yellowish hair provides valuable wool. All alpacas are domesticated, living in the Andes above 13,000 ft (3,962 m).
