Unit rule

Unit rule, U.S. voting rule used at many political conventions. Under the rule, all the votes in a state delegation are thought of as a single unit. When a majority of the delegation members vote for a certain candidate during a convention, all the delegation votes go to that candidate. Unit rule was used by the Democratic party until 1968.
