Snowshoe

Snowshoe, oval-shaped wooden frame with crosspieces strung with thongs, attached to the foot to distribute body weight so as to make it easier to walk on snow without sinking. Snowshoes were invented by Native Americans. Today they are used by loggers, hunters, and farmers. They are made of light wood and leather, and are at least 3 ft (91 cm) long and 1–1.5 ft (30–46 cm) wide.
