Snowmobile

Snowmobile, engine-driven sled used for transport over large areas of ice and snow. An early, more cumbersome form of the vehicle was used in the 1920s. Today snowmobiling is a popular sport in many parts of North America and northern Europe. The snowmobile is also used by hunters, fishers, rescue workers, forest rangers, and power companies. In some areas its use has been restricted because of criticisms from environmentalists.
