Roseau



Roseau (pop. 11,000), capital city of Dominica, one of the Windward Islands in the Caribbean Sea. It is a port city, located on a river by the same name. Its exports include spices and lime products. Before its independence (1978), Dominica was ruled by the British (1759–1978) after the original European colonization by the French (mid-17th century).
