Richmond



Richmond (pop. 74,676), Calif., major West Coast port on the northeast shore of San Francisco Bay. Richmond has more than 120 industries, including oil refining, steel fabrication, chemicals, and food processing. Settled in 1899, it has a council-manager government. Among the world's largest high-level bridges is the San Rafael-Richmond Bridge, spanning 5.5 mi (8.9 km).
