Red River of the North



Red River of the North, river formed at Wahpeton, N. Dak., by the junction of the Bois de Sioux and Otter Trail rivers. About 540 mi (866 km) long, it flows north as the North Dakota-Minnesota boundary and enters Manitoba, Canada, emptying into Lake Winnipeg. It drains some 43,500 sq mi (112,665 sq km) of rich wheatlands.
