Red River



Red River, river that rises in northern Texas and flows southeast to join the Mississippi River between Natchez and Baton Rouge, forming most of the Oklahoma-Texas boundary. Named for its red sediment, it drains about 90,000 sq mi (233,100 sq km) and is 1,222 mi (1,967 km) long.
