Red Sea



Red Sea, sea separating the Arabian Peninsula from the northeastern region of Africa. It extends some 1,300 mi (2,090 km) from the Bab al-Mandab strait by the Gulf of Aden in the south to the gulfs of Suez (with the Suez Canal) and Aqaba in the North. It is up to 250 mi (402 km) wide and up to 7,800 ft (2,377 m) deep.
