François Quesnay

Quesnay, François (1694–1774), French economist and a leader of the physiocrats. Although trained in medicine (he was physician to Louis XV), his fame rests on his essays in political economy, which first began to appear in 1756 in Denis Diderot's Encyclopédie, and on his Economic Table (1758), which influenced Adam Smith.
