Frances Perkins



Perkins, Frances (1882–1965), U.S. Secretary of Labor (1933–45), first U.S. woman cabinet member. From 1910 she was active in New York State factory and labor affairs. Appointed labor secretary by President F.D. Roosevelt, she administered New Deal programs.
