Nationalism

Nationalism, political and social attitude of people who share a common culture, language, and territory as well as common aims, and thus feel a deep-seated loyalty to their group. Nationalism had its roots in the rise of strong centralized monarchies, in the economic doctrine of mercantilism, and the growth of a substantial middle class.
