National Zoological Park



National Zoological Park, zoo maintained by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The 3 million annual visitors to the 176-acre (71-hectare) zoo can see some 5,000 animals representing 500 species, among them the renowned pandas Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing, given to the United States by China in 1972.
