Muslims

Muslims, practitioners of the religion of Islam as preached by the prophet Muhammad in the 600s. Muslim is an Arabic word meaning one who submits to God. Muslims form the majority of the population of the Middle East, North Africa, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Pakistan. The Koran, believed to be the revelations of God (Allah) to Muhammad, is the book to which Muslims are devoted. A dispute, dating back to the first centuries of the Muslim era, caused a fundamental division of Muslims into the Sunni and Shi'te sects.
