Bartolomé Estéban Murillo



Murillo, Bartolomé Estéban (1617–82), baroque painter, Spain's most famous in his time, known as the Raphael of Seville. He produced religious narrative scenes expressing deep piety and gentleness, works of realism, and fine portraits. Among his many paintings are the Vision of St. Anthony (1656), The Ragged Boy (c.1670), and the Two Trinities (known as the Holy Family) (1678).
