Elijah Muhammad



Muhammad, Elijah (Elijah Poole; 1897–1975), U.S. Black Muslim leader. In 1931 he met Wali “Prophet” Farad, founder of the first Temple of Islam in Detroit, Mich. Elijah became a prominent disciple, and on Farad's disappearance (1934) he became leader of the movement.
