Muhammad II



Muhammad II (1430?–81), sultan and ruler of the Ottoman Empire (Turkey). He founded the Ottoman Empire when he captured Constantinople (1453), which he made his capital. He also conquered other territories in southeast Europe and around the Black Sea. As a ruler, he restructured his government and had government officials trained. He also founded colleges and set up charities, in the interest of his people's welfare.
