Ark



Ark, biblical vessel Noah built for protection from the great flood (Genesis 6–9); also, the Ark of the Covenant, the sacred chest of the Hebrews representing God's presence (Exodus 25). The word can refer to a basket, box, or coffer, and in the United States, to the flat riverboats used for transport during western expansion.
