Saint Thomas Aquinas



Aquinas, Saint Thomas (1225–74), Italian scholastic theologian and philosopher. Known as the Angelic Doctor, St. Thomas reconciled Christian faith with Aristotelian reason. His teachings are basic to Roman Catholic theology. His greatest work is the Summa Theologica (1267–73).
