Aqueduct



Aqueduct, artificial conduit for water. Ancient Rome was supplied with fresh drinking water from mountain springs by 14 aqueducts. In the south of France the Pont du Gard still stands. The longest aqueduct today is the California State Water Project aqueduct (826 mi/1,329 km), completed in 1974.
