Anne of Cleves



Anne of Cleves (1515–57), queen consort and fourth wife of England's Henry VIII. She was the daughter of a powerful German noble, and Henry married her (1540) on Thomas Cromwell's advice to forge international bonds, but 6 months later he had Parliament annul the marriage.
