Aberdeen Proving Ground



Aberdeen Proving Ground, U.S. Army test center for guns, ammunition, vehicles, bombs, and other ordnance, located in Hartford County, Md. Established in 1917, the 73,000-acre (29,200-hectare) post extends approximately 18 mi (29 km) along the upper Chesapeake Bay near the town of Aberdeen. The Army Ordnance Center, Test and Evaluation Command, Chemical Research Development, and Engineering centers as well as ordnance disposal and ballistic research and human engineering laboratories are currently located at this post.
