Ralph David Abernathy



Abernathy, Ralph David (1926–90), U.S. black civil rights leader and Baptist minister. In 1968 he succeeded the murdered Martin Luther King, Jr., as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and led the Poor People's March on Washington D.C. that year.
