Cretaceous period

Cretaceous period, geological period from about 140 to 65 million years ago. It is one of the 3 periods of the mesozoic era, the age of reptiles. The separation of Africa and South America occurred during the Cretaceous period, as did the disappearance of the dinosaurs and emergence of snakes and lizards.
